Our Mission

The Shield isn’t just an organisation — it’s a movement built by the people, for the people.

We’re a community-driven, volunteer-powered network working across Great Britain to protect the vulnerable and stop harm before it happens.

From our Vanguard teams of ex-military, police, and intelligence specialists, to our Community Presence patrols and Trusted Guardians in schools — every member stands for one purpose: to make our communities safe again.

We don’t care about race, religion, or politics — only about doing what’s right.
Because every child, every woman, every man deserves to feel safe where they live.

We’re ordinary people who refused to keep looking the other way.
We’re here to take action, lawfully and together — to be the line between danger and safety, silence and courage.

How You Can Help?

Everyone can do something. You don’t need a badge or a title — just the will to stand up and be counted.

There are three simple ways you can help build The Shield and protect your community:

1, 2, 3...

1

Join Us

How You Can Help

Click the “Become a Member” button above and join your local regional team.
Every new member adds strength to our mission — more eyes, more awareness, more protection.
When you join, you’ll receive full training, support, and connection with others who share the same goal: to make our communities safe again.
See below for how the full process works.

2

Wear the Shield

Represent what we stand for.
Every hoodie, T-shirt, and item of Shield gear you wear spreads the message that this behaviour is not welcome here.
All of our merchandise is high grade and made to last — we only make a pound or two on each item, because getting the logo out there is far more important than making profit.
The more people wearing it, the stronger the message becomes — it tells abusers, gangs, and anyone with bad intentions that communities are united, alert, and watching.

3

Sponsor or Donate

Your donations and sponsorships keep our safeguarding operations running — funding training, uniforms, outreach work, and community events.
Every contribution, big or small, helps us reach more people and protect more children.
Click the “Donate” button to support The Shield and be part of something bigger than yourself

Membership Fee — Why We Charge £55

When you join, you’ll be asked to pay a £55 yearly membership fee.
That small fee has caused a lot of speculation in the past, so I want to break it down clearly for you.

Where Your £55 Goes

Enhanced DBS Check
Every member of The Shield is fully background checked.
Although volunteer DBS checks are free, we pay around £25 in admin and digital verification fees to speed up the process and ensure results are handled correctly.

Uniform & ID System
You’ll receive your official Shield uniform, printed with your unique membership number and logo.
The cost of the uniform is about £15, plus £5 postage.
You’ll also be added to our secure digital ID system (around £5 per person per year) which allows us to update or remove IDs instantly.
This keeps all members accountable and protected, and ensures we maintain a professional, transparent structure.

Training & Insurance
All members receive full training in:

First Aid

De-escalation

Safeguarding Level 1

You’re also insured while performing your Shield duties, so everything we do is lawful, safe, and protected.

Access to the Members Portal
Once registered, you’ll gain access to our private members portal — our own internal social media platform.
Inside, you’ll find updates, training, support groups, and direct links to your regional team.

Behind the scenes, we also cover the cost of licensed software, CRM systems, and secure management tools that keep recruitment, safeguarding, and operations bulletproof.

We don’t charge the people we protect.
We’re a self-funded, non-profit safeguarding CIC, so this small yearly fee simply covers the real costs of keeping the movement strong and safe.

What Happens After You Join

Once your payment is complete, you’ll automatically gain access to the members portal.

Go to the Groups tabopen Regional Groupsfind and join your local region.
Each region has its own Regional Manager who will guide you through the next steps.

You’ll then receive a link from our admin team to complete your DBS check.
These usually take around six weeks.

While waiting, head to the Courses section in the portal and complete your training.
You’ll see four boxes on your profile:

DBS

First Aid

De-escalation

Safeguarding Level 1

As you complete each one, the boxes will tick off automatically.

You can go out as a trainee alongside a full member while waiting for your DBS.
Once your checks and courses are complete, your Regional Manager will order your uniform and ID.

That’s it — you’re officially part of The Shield.

What Comes Next

All members start as part of their Regional Community Presence Team, going out when needed to show presence and support local safety operations.
There’s no pressure and no minimum hours — everyone helps when and how they can.
Some members have health issues, jobs, or family commitments, and that’s absolutely fine.

Once you’re confident in your role, you can apply to join one of our specialist teams:

Vanguard — Advanced training in surveillance, intel, and field operations.

Trusted Guardians — Additional Safeguarding Level 2 training to work directly with schools and children.

All of this training is included at no extra cost.

Every member also agrees to follow our Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Procedures.
We take this seriously — everything we do is within the law, and safeguarding is our top priority.

Because The Shield isn’t about numbers — it’s about people who care enough to act.
We’re all volunteers, all standing for the same thing.
Some can give more time than others, but what matters most is showing up.

When good people show up, everything changes.
